An internationally acclaimed exponent of the Mewati Gharana of Hindustani Classical Music and a torch-bearing disciple of Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj Ji, Pandit Suman Ghosh’s mellifluous voice, combined with his soul-stirring artistry and technical perfection, elevates music to divinity, leaving worldwide audiences spellbound. Describing his concert in 2015, The Times of India headline read “A Night of Musical Bliss”. His musicianship and his unique and unmatched contributions towards the spread of Hindustani classical music have earned him a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015.
Besides his genius as a performing musician, Pandit Ghosh is also a path-finding Guru. As the founder of the Center for Indian Classical Music of Houston (CICMH), he has been spearheading the cause of this music in its purest form for over a decade. In the midst of riyaaz (intense practice), imparting taalim (training his disciples), composing, sharing his vision with his team of dedicated followers, and planning the intricate details of upcoming endeavors, Pandit Ghosh is a model family man. He is married to Smt. Shashikala Ghosh, who, besides being the truly loving and caring Guruma (Guru Mother) for their disciples, bridges Pandit Ghosh’s musical and personal life seamlessly. Their daughters – Amiya and Apurva, and son – Aarohan Jashojeet, are also integral parts of their parents’ musical journey. Here, ‘musicality begins at home’.
