Age was no object for many players on the ATP World Tour in 2012. In the year-end Top 100 of the South African Airways ATP Rankings, there were 28 players aged 30 and over. Thirteen tour-level titles were won by “veteran” players, highlighted by a 34-year-old Tommy Haas triumphing over then-30-year-old Roger Federer in the Gerry Weber Open final. Only Milos Raonic was successful in the bracket of players aged 21 and under.
